What Is Papilledema?

Papilledema is a condition that leads to optic nerve swelling. With this health issue, there is the problem of pressure in or around the brain which might come up with many causes. How papilledema is diagnosed?

The eye doctor will use the tool which is known as an ophthalmoscope which helps to look at the back of the eyes and diagnose papilledema. In addition, an imaging test is done which includes MRI to understand better what is the reason that pressure is put on the brain. Following that MRI will help you to understand better what treatment plan will suit your condition the best.

What are the possible treatment options?

The doctor can suggest antibiotics for the brain infection, surgery to drain the abscess, or then remove the tumor. The medicine can help the blood clot to dissolve. In addition, the doctor will ask you to come for regular testing to make sure there are not any vision issues. In case, the condition seems to be serious then the doctor can suggest you some other treatment plan to make your health better.
