  • Pain

Do you know what these signs point to? Answer: Eye Infection. The eye infection divides into different categories:

  • Bacterial
  • Viral
  • Fungal

Thankfully! It is easy to spot an eye infection by the eye doctor. Therefore, you must seek medical assistance from the doctor as early as possible. Bear in mind, regular visits to the eye doctor will keep a check on your eye health, and it will also let you know in advance whether you have to undergo Lasik Surgery in Punjab. Now! Let’s learn about the most common eye infections.

Common types and causes of eye infection

  • Keratitis

Keratitis is the reason for cornea infection which can occur due to fungal, viral, bacterial, or parasitic and eye injury. The reason for having keratitis infection can be due to:

    • Regular use of contact lenses
    • Weak immune system
    • You live in humid and warm weather
    • Eye injury
  • Conjunctivitis or Pink Eye

One of the common eye infections occurs when blood vessels are infected by a virus or bacteria. Due to this, the eyes become red or pink and inflamed. Chances are high that it can occur due to allergies or getting exposed to chemicals. Infection is likely to spread within 2 weeks so you must consult the doctor.

  • Blepharitis

Blepharitis is the eyelid inflammation on the skin fold which covers the eyes. The inflammation is the reason for clogged oil glands inside the eyelid skin and on the base of eyelashes. In some cases, bacteria might be the reason.

  • Cellulitis

Eyelid cellulitis is an infection that occurs in the eye tissues. A scratch on your eye tissues can be the reason for bacteria entering the eyes. Cellulitis is seen in young children.

  • Sty

Sty is also known by the name of hordeolum. It is categorized as the pimple-like bump on the eyelids. Sty is the reason for the oil gland present on the edges. The oil glands get clogged with oil, dead skin, or any other thing. Due to this, the bacteria keep on growing in the gland. The infection which occurs is known as sty.

If you notice any of the above-mentioned symptoms then you must schedule your initial consultation without any delay. Do not neglect the seriousness of the situation; otherwise, it can turn out to be something serious that needs an advanced treatment plan or might be surgery.
